PHP Programming Contest - 1
Contest A1 (Personal Diary)

This contest is intended for PHP Programmers with less that 6 months experience (or equivalent). You will be given a problem and it's your job to give your coded solution.

Contest Summary:
You will be asked to script a personal diary, using only PHP and HTML. The diary must store notes and an address book. Click here for full details.

Closing Date:
All entries in by Monday 14th April 2003 at 23.59 (GMT)

Submissions:
Entries to: contest@php-editors.com before the closing date. Please include your username (from the forum) and contact details (including prefered language and platform) in a text file named contact.txt. Submissions should be zipped.

Judging:
This contest will have several judges, judging will be based on this point scoring system 1-10 (10 is the best):

Usability
GUI Design

In the event of more than one submission having the same score the following will decide the winner:
1. Script execution time.
2. Best scripting methods.

Rules and Restrictions:
If using a database system, it must be either MySQL or Postgres -
- SQL to re-create an databases MUST be supplied.
Must run on Windows, and Unix systems
Must run with PHP4.2 (register globals off)
No Client Scripts
No Flash
No PHP extensions (other that default builds)
Maximum execution time 60 seconds.
All code must be writen by you !

Contest B1 (Flipping Shuflles)

This contest is intended for the PHP Programmer with more than 6 months experience. You will be given strict instructions and it's your job to create the most effective coded solution.

Contest Summary:
You will be asked to sort many decks of jumbled cards back into order, using only three operations - Shuffle, Cut and Flip. Decks may have anything from 2-52 cards (even numbers only 2,4,10,20 etc...). Click here for full details.

Minimum number of moves to solve the puzzle (or at least a good try).
