Hi Guys,
I'm currently working on various projects that vary from c/c++ on embedded linux / windows to c# development on windows and php.
I think that the idea of an opensource editor sounds great.
I have been testing IDE's @ work to find out which path to follow.
I was disapointed that there wat not even one IDE that did the "thing" i would expect an IDE. the main conclusion i made that or the IDE is to expensive or it was kind of sluggish or at last it worked more against me then with me. (complexity of the IDE).
therefore following my idea's.
- make it working both on linux as in windows.
- Allow different degrees of complexity for
* starters
* Ui designers
* And of coarse the actual programmers
- make sure the debugger is userfiendly (usage and configuration), optional remote debugging.
- MySql integration
- snippets
- Code generation utilities (uml based).
- and of coarse the previously noted expectation of the fellow posters.
First of all i think it might be good to define the scope/expectations of the IDE and maybe devide it into phases. and then maybe try to make a desision on the language to program it in.
anyway i think its a very nice suggestion and i'm willing to spend lots of time on it to make this 'the solution' php programmers have been dreaming of B)
