I got all the above installed and working correctly locally but for some reason whenever I try to visit a subdirectory that has an index.php my mac redirects to the hostname.local instead of my domain.

Has anyone else had this problem and even better can someone help me fix it?

to see what I mean check out http://www.maddr.net which I used php to display the date. Then check http://www.maddr.net/chess which should load a chess game, instead your likely to get an error like "http://www.minibox.local.com cannot be found.

.:: Edit ::.
I know this is a linux forum but I know linux users are masters at apache configurations and chances are its something to do with Apache, PHP & MySQL instead of the OS.

This is interesting, I actually noticed it on my mac at work today. It never bothered me since i only use it to test some stuff locally before i put it on our live server (linux). In a few days I will take a look at it and see if I can figure out why it is doing it.

Haha ok,

I have posted this on just about every help forum I can find online related to this type of software. Let me tell you that as of tonight you are the only person to even reply with an intelligent answer. One person has asked me if I even have a directory named chess.

Any help is appreciated on this and if you are insterested and I get an answer elsewhere I can post back.

Well i'm not sure if you are still in the market for a fix but here it is.

Quote:
you might want to turn off the setting for canonical hostname lookup.

should be in your httpd.conf somewhere and turned on. (search for 'canonical')

if you turn it off, then apache wont try to rewrite every incomplete request with the hostname it has in its settings.
maybe you also have the *.local address set as hostname, which doesn't make much sense. commennt it out if you have it in your httpd.conf.

hope this solves your problem or at least is a push in the right direction

you might also want to check the manual for the two settings i gave you above.(i still might be wrong about it)
