displaying php error messages

HI There,

OK I have now set up Apache and php5 on my machine and can start my php development.

One problem however is that when I run a script in localhost, it either works or I get a blank screen. In other words, if the php script contains any errors these errors are not displayed in the browser window which is what should happen.

Anyone got any ideas ?

I suggest looking for your php.ini file (that's under *ix, I don't know what it's called under windows). Look for the directives "error_reporting" and "display_errors". My own config looks like this:

error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE
display_errors = On

I also suggest setting up a info.php file that contains only this:

<? phpinfo(); ?>

And then load that in your web browser. It will cause PHP to spit out all of its configuration into the browser window, and you can look for particular directives (such as "error_reporting" and "display_errors").
