Help getting server root linking working

Hi,

I'm having trouble getting my local site (on OS X 10.4) working with server root linking - linking to "/images/image.gif" instead of "../../images/image.gif"

It doesn't work and I've been searching high and low with no luck.

Anyone know how to set this up? Is it is httpd.conf?

Any help would be appreciated.
