Ive recently been looking for a good linux editor. Unfortunately i can't find one, what im looking for isnt exactly too complex

1: syntax highlighting
2: code completion

i dont need anything else. Jedit doesnt have code completetion.

what makes it worse is that alot of the proggies dont work.

anjuta, quanta plus, php eclipse and scite dont work.

ive tried tru studio, but syntax highlighting wont work.

so does any1 know a editor for linux i can use,of can run in wine?

It has to be free or relitively cheap.

Thanks.

My favorite editor in Linux is good old Vim. It's completely text-based, but nothing else that I've tried is as fast and effective as vim. It has both syntax highlighting and code completion. Here are a couple useful links:

Comfortable PHP editing w/ VIM (which includes code completion and other cool tips)

PHP runtime syntax check (Vim Tips) (check php syntax while editing code)

Best of all, it's FREE

Enjoy!
