 looking for editor/IDE
First, I'm sorry to ask thi probably very annoying question, but I've been searching for a good php editor/IDE for quite a while now and I just can't decide which one would be good. Hopefully, you can help me by suggesting an editor/IDE I should/should not use and also tell me what you like/dislike about that one OK, untill now, I've always used Crimson Editor, which is a good editor, but I'm looking for something with some more features. The following are some features I'd really like the editor/IDE to have: * basic editor features (line numbers, syntax highlighting, tabbed MDI) * code explorer * code folding * function parameter hints of course, every additional feature is a plus. Finally, I'd rather have a good, reliable editor/IDE than a free one;) Once more, sorry for asking a question like this, but I don't want to try 10 different editors/IDE's before I decide the first one was the best and I know it's more of a personal taste what one actually is the best, but I'm just asking for some tips and experience

My favorite is PhpED from nusphere - http://www.nusphere.com, that's what I use. I tried others, nothing comes closer in speed and settings.

Sorry, I'm a bit new here, but I am trying to make my own editor and I'm just wondering if you could explain what code explorer is, and I'm guessing that code-folding is hiding blocks of code?

I been using UltraEdit (http://www.idmcomp.com) for years. My programming experience includes C, C++, Java, PHP, SQL and Oracle PL/SQL. I've always like this editor. It's doesn't cost very much and you can configure the editor to a display that's fits your coding style.

 Re: looking for editor/IDE
You should give a try to PHPEdit providing your needs: * basic editor features (line numbers, syntax highlighting) * code explorer * code folding * function parameter hints and several other nice features like PHP Debugger: PHP Framework support, advanced code navigation, code generation for PHP and PHPDoc and much more
