I setup mysql the way the documentation explains down to the T ... my.ini is setup with user/pass as well and is located in the correct directory. Despite this, I try to install a mod for testing, so I edited the simple config file (host, user, pass, ect, ect...). (Apache w/ PHP is working fine by the way.) Anyway I get this mysql error:
Code:
mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: YES)
sigh... If mysql recognizes I am using the correct password, then why can't it connect? ... I'm stumped, someone please help!

All help & comments are GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks

The error is pretty obvious. You dont have the right password for the root user. MySQL has its own password settings, they dont inherit from your OS.

No, I have never used IIS or Windows of any kind as a web server. Get a real OS!

It doesn't seem *that* obvious, since I set the same password in my.ini that I entered into the test mod... is the setting in my.ini not enough? If not, would you mind running me through how to set the password correctly? Thanks a ton for the reply, help still needed .

Very much abliged!
