Exclamation my sql problem

I'm getting the following error message when I type in my web address:

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) in /home/legacyan/public_html/stallionauction/classes/drivers/adodb-mysql.inc.php on line 346
could not connect to database

I've gone into my hosting panel and tried to access php myadmin and get error@ #2002 saying it can't connect to the server.

I'm trying to determine if this is a problem with my hosting company or somewhere else. It was working last night and not this morning. I haven't changed anything in my scripts etc.
The tech support at my hosting co (Ipower) hasn't been very helpful.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Its ridiculous your hosting company isn't helpful.

This is a simple error, it means your MySQL server isn't running. If you are using Cpanel or Plesk just restart it in there. Or if you use a CLI, try "service mysql restart" and that should do it.
