regular expression with mysql - PHP-Editors

Hi
I am trying to use regexp in my query through Java.
Before this I tested my query on server and it is very very slow with regexp! when i use same query with 'like' it is very fast.

could anyone of tell me why regexp is so slow & how can we make it fast.

Regexp with MySQL has always been a little slow. What version of MySQL are you using?

Firstly, stop using an alpha, and go to a production build to test this stuff. That way you dont have to deal with bugs.
