Hi,

I have an existing database called testdatabase...it was my original test (obviously) database, but I put things in there and it started getting bigger and I started using it for everything...

Now, I want to password protect it...is there any way I can do this...

at the moment to get into the database, I type 'mysql testdatabase' from the prompt, but I want it to ask me for a password....

is this possible? I have searched for it, but I can't find how to do it...

Thanks,

Eoin

I don't really understand...

I'm not logged in as anyone...I'm using windows and from the command prompt, I type in 'mysql testdatabase'

on the pc, I'm logged on as the administrator, but that shouldn't have anything to do with it, should it?

Thanks for your help..

I have no clue on Windows, never used it for any type of server never cared to.

In the real world (UNIX) the user you are logged in as does relate the the user in your database.

Check your database called mysql. In the user table are all your users.
