hello there
i use mysql server 5-alpha-max-nt
with connection on TCP
protocol version 10
i dont know why i cant connect with php mysql functions ... providing username/password .
it will connect with users that doest have password , but when it come to use password , it will say you client doenst suppot authentication protocol the server requested .
if anyone has any answer please let me know , thanks

Do you have mysql-libs installded? I dont think they are out for 5 yet and PHP needs them to run.

but i used both
php 4.3.8
and php5 rc2
i had the same problem ...
and i think we have libmysql.dll with php 5 , because i have seen but maybe not as complete as i need ...
another thing is that ... when you see mysql_connect() doc in php help chm file , they have exampled some with username and password BOTH .
i think i could be possibly a problem with mysql itself , and if so , again i need suggestions on that case .
anyway thanks a lot , waiting see more

I would either:

Go back to a stable version of MySQL or go to the MySQL site for support.
