Default Eclipse PHP

With all this interest why don't you all work together on developing modules and submissions to the Eclipse PHP project?
I know theres been reasons why people choose not to go with Eclipse, I agree that C++ is a nice fast language, but perhaps its low-level interface makes it hard to develop quickly (I don't mean to start a programming flame war here), but it's a great place to get started. And for those that do not know Java, the same could be said by Java developers who say "I don't know C++", really speaking from my experience in both your design skills in programming are so much more important and there are some great articles explaining the differences between the languages so you can adapt super fast.

Default Creating the OpenSource PHP IDE with QT ..

AFAIK, there is a version of QT3 for windows that is free for opensource projects ...

This should allow for porting across OS's ..

Other than that, I would like to help .. possibly with testing ....
I would like to see this get off the ground !!!

Hi all,

Sorry for the total lack of response to this topic.

If you have the 'receive emails from administrator' option enabled in your account, you would have noticed I mentioned this project again, in my email a few days ago.

Okay, the best way to move forward with this is to have a private forum for everyone who is interested in helping.

Can I ask everyone who is still available to help, to dop me a PM? once I get some names together I'll open a private forum for us to move forward.

Spread the word to anyone you know who may also be able to help.

Look forward to getting this thing off the ground at last!!

Stuart

I was looking for a good editor but I couldn't find any that could fullfil my expectations, so I decided to write my own one, but I think joining a team would be better I'm not around the next few days (gotta kick some asses to meet deadlines) but after this feel free to mail me and I gonna help you guys with the management and/or programming Ben

The idea is not dead, in fact the team is currently being assembled and some things are already "in the works"

Default I can test it out

Hi guys,

I recently started learning PHP. I already program in C/C++, VB and others. On this project, I would like to join as a user tester for the IDE.

Do you guys think you can use me as I can point out the things which I need as a learner since a learner's perspective is different from experts.

Sanjay

Default Midas?

Hi,

I glanced through this thread, but wanted to make a suggestion. I came across this interesting feature of Mozilla--another open source and prominent project which uses another language PHP programmers are probably more likely to know (or should know given that it is complementary with PHP)--javascript: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Midas

Given that it can handle WYSIWYG, I imagine that it could also be made to provide syntax-coloring (albeit with text)--one feature I didn't see in the example editors at the page provided above. I think having an IDE that was REALLY accessible for people to modify, like something written in these languages that many PHP folks like myself have already been using for some time would be especially nice.

Another benefit of this approach is that there is also already code written for it. But again, the biggest benefit, in my opinion, is that it could be modified by PHP users too. And since it is client-side, one could have the option to save files with it on one's own computer (assuming PHP were installed)--modifying the code as desired.

I think Smarty syntax coloring and code insertion would also be a big plus.

thanks for listening,
Brett

Default Features.....

You might want to look at creating a truely wysiwyg rad tool for php. If been chained to my windows install because there is no alternative for linux because of Codecharge Studio . Delphi for php seems to try and do the same but yet again....just for windows. I can't see myself going back to using something that is basicly an enhanced text editor.

This i the kind of tool that let's you create grids in seconds and still leaves room for your own programming via the event structure it incorporates.

If there was a true gpl alternative on linux I'd delete my windows partitions and never look back. Sadly there is no such thing as yet.
