Hi,
I searched nearly my a.. off to find an Editor that has the following features. But I didn't find one that fits, so i now take the ultima ratio and post my question to this Forum!
What I'm looking for is not much.
I "wish" (yes, Santa Claus is on vacation, i know) my an Editor that has
- Syntax-Highlight
- Macros (for Textinsertion)
- Simple Textsearch
- SSH / Remote editing
And the last point is where i got stuck in my search.
Vim and Emacs have both remote capabilities, but it seems it depends on X. And on my Webserver i don't have any X-Server, because there is no need for it.
I tried a lot of other Editors that say, that they can work remotely. But most of them just download a file, you can edit it, and when you save it, it loads it up to the server again. That's not what i want.
I found one wich, as the "Feature-List" says, does what i want. But it will not start after install. It's Ecode's eSH Client.
The main feature i want, is an editor that works on the server! just like when i use Putty and vi. I work directly on the server. But I miss a lot when i use only the SSH client, so i hope to find an editor that does the same, with another interface.
There should be the possibility to execute shell commands or open a shell, to edit php files without downloading them, working offline, uploading them.
Does anyone knows an Editor that has this feature?
