cagrET,

I was very proud of my code for this contest, until I saw yours this morning. I was very impressed with your code and see I am going to have to try even harder for the next contest!

Of course YOU liked it!! :P

Actually, I really enjoyed it too, even though I didn't win. This was my first contest and I'm really looking forward to the next one, I hope it is posted soon!

By the way, on the results page, the view link doesn't work on "Larry".

I agree, excellent contest. Congrats to all the winners. I admit, I was a bit disappointed that the inputs didn't hit the upper bounds of 20 words. My optimal (but O(N!)) script was timing in around 6sec on that input with the full 110 chars. Oh well, I got fourth so I can't complain, but you better watch out next time cagrET, I'll be after you .

Offtopic: Just curious, is anyone here participating in the ICFP 2003 Programming Contest this weekend? I was planning on entering and using PHP and didn't know if anyone else was planning on doing the same and might be interested in forming a team? Team registration begins today. If interested feel free to mail/reply me here or e-mail mr_sketch at xsmail dot com. The contest runs 72 hours starting midnight GMT on saturday (friday 8:00pm EDT).

Contragts to cagrET and all who partecipated!

But now it's my time for some complaints... how did you run the contest?

On my setups, my script gets 110 using the contest input. This is the result on my home Athlon@550/Win2k:

getallheaders xbithack virtual
constant variable string eggs
hypertext objects class
alnum cntrl ctype graph lower print upper
110

(I don't know if the colouring worked)

The time elapsed is 41s, so I don't care about winning or getting a placing... I just wanted to tell that my script is cpable to find a better solution than the one posted.

Did you run it with a really low time_limit? I ask, because it really seems it switched to retreat mode at the beginning...

I can't find your entry.. what is your real name?

I have posted all the entries that were received on this page: [http://www.php-editors.com/results_b3.php i don't see you there... there was only three people that got 110 - cagrET, Eugene and Naholyr but sadly Naholyr's script failed due to the order the words came out (shame because his script returned in 0.23).

I appologies if your entry got lost in the mail.... I clearly need to rethink the submission rules.

I removed the time limit completly to obtain scores, i was only going to add limits if the scripts needed them, all the qualifying scripts were pretty fast anyway. And for your information I used a p2/400 on Nt4 for the testing (I dont have that system anymore though).
