Hi Folks,

It has been a long time indeed - but the start of a new year brings the start of a new PHP Programming Contest

For a while there, many sites where running these contests and the apeal seemed to have been lost. things have changed a little and we have brought back the contests. This one is going to be a lot of fun.

The new contest details can be found by clicking on the 'Current PHP Contest' link on the left menu. The topic is Texas Holdem Poker - a fast growing craze.

Please read the rules and if you have any question - post them here (or email me).

If you have any ideas for future contests - please start a new thread

Stuart

Cool, I'm gonna try my hand at this. But why PHP4 instead of PHP5??

I decided not to allow PHP5 for a simple reason - Im not running PHP5 on my server, and this would make testing more tricky. But will hopefully be upgrading to PHP5 this year

That's the exact reason why I was asking. I'm running PHP5 on my server so it will be trickier to test for me!

I would think there are still more users out here of version 4 than there are of version 5.

I must admit, though, the implementation of OOP in v4 is a real pain in the neck for me at the moment with this contest

The other consideration is that on servers php4 is generally more supported than php5
