Only for people who have already submitted an editor and wish to update it or edit it. The other area fo the admin to validate submission does'nt absolutly need a login as the admin directory can be password protected.

In fact that may actually be a good idea, that way nobody can vote or review without login-in first. If you wish to integrate the system with the invision forum database then go ahead.

just to be clear, there is 3 types of login:
1. Editors Companies wishing to submit an editor and edit the details in rhe future.
2. Site users wishing to review/rate editors.
3. Admin - validating/editing submitted editors and reviews.

Why would Editor Companies be different then regular users? Why wouldnt it just be admin and regular users?

Well, they have different functions. But I understand were you are coming from they both could share the same login. So I guess 2 login's should be enough!!

What I was hoping for was for Editors companies or the site Admin to add Editors initially with details like URL, Price, License type, screenshot etc. The site users reviews and rating will work differently.. they can only add a review and rating, nothing else. I guess it's very similair to the current system but with better management and a better calculated rating system. I know anyone could add an editor and that is fine, but we only need the main details once and they must be at least accurate.

But you are right about the logins, they could all be driven from the one system but marked agains different functions.

so basically, we're writing a content management system with users, articles, rankings, etc etc..

It's kinda reinventing the wheel for the nth time.... but there is the ability if it's written write to really become anything.. the real problem with this challenge is just writing and making sure the user system is well made.. something that's not easy to get right. It'd almost be better off if we just wrote an invision plugin that used the entire invision login system... and it'd just get rediculous from there..

i'm working on the challenge myself, but that's instantly the roadblock i hit, the fact that i'll have to write something that's been written 7 billion times, and gotten right about twice.. the only thing i fear is that when i get done, it's gonna be nothing more than a shoddy rewrite of the invisionboard system, since it can already do pretty much everything you want it to.. i dunno, we'll see in february

Ok, so creating a new login would be the best idea unless you are going to tell us what the tables are where everything is stored on the invision system?

By the way, what is the server of php-editors? As screenshots will be uploaded.. paths would be effected by the server like if it was windows you would have to use double slashes.

Also with the uploaded screenshots is there a set size/file size they should be?
