I have searched and searched for the last 2 weeks for some simple php code for a challenge question on my form to help avoid spam bots. My contact form is very basic and simple but I am getting a ton of spam from it. I understand that one of the "easiest" ways to minimize this is to make a simple question like "Is ice cold or hot?" as a criteria for whether or not the form gets submitted and emailed to me.
I am new to php but have been trying to learn as much as possible but I need help with this please. Thank you!!!
Use captcha. There are some free captcha's out there, or if you know some good PHP [which you said you're new, so.] you can just get a free captcha system. Captcha will reduce bots, but maybe not people spammers.
I just googled 'free captcha' and it got up some results, so..: free captcha - Google Search
Thanks for your suggestion Hidendra. But I would really like to use something much simpler than captcha. I know that when I am asked to use them, it is very frustrating and fails often. The challenge question seems so much easier for me and for my visitors. I know it can be done. Someone here has utilized it on the page when you click the very top link on the left that says "PHP Help Request" in red. On that page at the bottom is exactly what I need. It is an anti-spam math question. All I need is the PHP code associated with this question. Can someone please help me out with this? Thank you very much. We are getting slaughtered with spam.
