Did you create a database????

You need to have a MySQL database on your account... ask your host to do this if your not sure.

When a database is created you will have the details you require. HostName (probably localhost), DatabaseName, UserName and Password.

It seems your problem is no database... this is very important as phpBB will not ever work without it.

could you help me make one? my email address I check on a daily basis is:
E_Z_B_O_A_R_D@hotmail.com
could someone email me and help me there? please?? it would be easier then cluttering up this place with posts on how to make a database and such.

The only things you really need to set up phpBB are a MySQL database (ask your host if you have it or how to get it) and if your host suspports php (should have this if its a decent host, if not ask about it.)

With phpBB all you have to do is upload all of the files onto your host and then call the install.php file up in your browser and it will tell you what to do from there.

Is your host hostultra.com ?

Also, if your host wont reply or even listen to you, you should find a new host. http://powweb.com is very good.

Why not just... use cPanel, (HostUltra uses one I think) and simply use the fast install? I mean it's the newest stable release out so it would be pointless not to do that.

Hey EZ...;

Frist you should calm down a bit, all the folks here are trying to help you, and they are doing it for nothing.

I understand that your frustrated and confused, and people on these boards assume a certain level of knowledge that not everyone has, but you should be a bit more patient.

Now as to your situation. It took less than one minute to find out that hostultra(I am assuming they are hosting your web site) has both php and MySQL, so you should abandon your worries about installation. You can just use what they have to offer.

Some questions so I can get a feel for where your at in order to help.

What exactly do you want the features of your board to be?
Are you writing this from scratch or are you using code that already exists?
Have your ever done any programming past?
If so what is your experine with PHP/MySQL(I assumne none)?

I, and I am sure others on the board are happy to help, but you have to ask questions and take it one step at a time. Give us a little background on yourself, and then some detail as to what you want to accomplish and lets go from there.

nut...

My host is http://www.hostultra.com
I have a FREE accoun with them adn no I cannot upgrade.
Please, if someone is going to mention a service or something and ask why I don't use it, please provide a LINK with the question so I can see if I tried it not, ok?
I'm sorry for freaking out, but for over a year now, I have unsuccessfully tried to set up a board on my hostultra account. I've tried Invisionboard, PHPBB, even Vbulletin, I don't know what I can or can't do as far as setting up a board goes, I'm sorry. I'm completly new and clueless to all of this.
